The Quick shot – Microsoft and E3
There’s no point in pretending most of us haven’t already heard all the big announcements made at the Microsoft E3 Press conference, so I’m gonna try something new with a segment I’m calling quick shot. Essentially short (2 to 3 sentences) impressions of what we’ve seen thus far at E3. So here we go:
- Fallout 3
Vault-Tec aiming looks fun. Doesn’t remind me TOO much of Oblivion. Still looking forward to it.
- Fable 2
Animal Crossing Meets Fable. Can I build a reputation in my friend’s world?
- Gears of War 2
Looks pretty much like Gears of Wars 1. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Here’s hoping it’s a longer game.
- New 360 Dashboard
Oh look, there are avatars. Avatars replacing an actual list honestly looks unintuitive. Some interesting features, but frankly feels unnecessary.
- Live Primetime
Game shows can be cool. Love the idea for prizes. Might be a good way to get MS points rather than buying them.
- Netflix partnership
I have a friend who moved a state over not so much than a year ago. We used to watch movies all the time. The fact that we can recreate that experience from miles a way is honestly very, very awesome.
- Casual game sweep
Most people aren’t going to care. But those games aren’t FOR you, now are they?
- XBLA games
New galaga is cool…
- Portal: Still Alive
OMGSOHAPPYOMGOMGHAHAHAHA
- Banjo Kazooie 3
Yeah, I didn’t like the first one. Moving on.
- Viva Pinata 2
Looks different. I like creating content through my own stuff, kinda like monster rancher. Still, a pass for me.
- Guitar Hero: World Tour
Guitar Hero 3 sucked. Customizing my own songs doesn’t justify buying a totally new set of instruments for the game. Pass.
- Lips
Duffy is hot. Using any song I own is interesting. Might get the game if I don’t have to buy a new microphone for it.
- Rock Band 2
500 songs by the end of the year? God DAMN. Still the number 1 brand in the music game department.
- Square-Enix collaboration.
Star Ocean kicks ass, so I’m looking forward to it. Last Remnant looks interesting. I… I don’t even remember what the third game in 09 was.
- Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360
At first it looked like 360 lost another exclusive. Now it seems it’s still only for PS3 in Japan, so it’s only a very teensy tiny victory for the 360 in the long run. Square’s the only clear victor in that deal.
- Too Human demo
Using a second analog stick to fight still sucks as much as usual. Terrible animation, so-so graphics and grating voice acting. I need more than 3 sentences to really convey my frustrations at this would be good with a little tweaking game.
And that’s quick shot. What do you think? Should I keep this format for the rest of E3 and beyond?
